The Department of Public Works and Highways has successfully concluded two infrastructure undertakings that will bring advantages to both motorists and residents in the municipalities of Laur and Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija.

As outlined in the report submitted to DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, DPWH Regional Office III Director Roseller A. Tolentino conveyed the completion of slope protection walls along Jct. Tablang-Gabaldon Road in Barangay San Vicente, Laur, Nueva Ecija. The project, executed by DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office, incurred a total cost of P15.01 million.

Based on the DPWH Geographic Information System (GIS) – 2022 Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) data, the project now serves an estimated 5,100 daily motorists in the region. Director Tolentino highlighted that the initiative aimed to boost the safety and resilience of the access road. It involved the construction of a 136-linear meter single-slope parapet wall with steel sheet pile foundations, designed to prevent soil erosion and mitigate sediment overflow, particularly due to the road's proximity to the Pampanga River.

Simultaneously, the DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office paved a total of 2.23 kilometers of local road sections leading to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in Barangay Kalikid Norte.
