The rehabilitation of EDSA is set to commence on June 13, 2025, following multiple delays. The project, expected to span approximately 18 months, aims to address the deteriorating conditions of Metro Manila's primary thoroughfare.
In anticipation of significant traffic disruptions, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) is in discussions with San Miguel Corporation to suspend toll fees on certain sections of the Skyway, providing motorists with alternative routes during the rehabilitation period.
To manage the expected congestion, the DOTr, in collaboration with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), is developing a comprehensive traffic management plan. This includes the temporary relocation of the EDSA Busway to adjacent lanes to maintain public transport services during the construction phase.
Motorists are advised to prepare for heavy traffic and stay informed about upcoming rerouting schemes and mitigation measures that will be announced in the coming weeks.
