LPA trough, ‘habagat’ to bring rains across PH

Over $672-M investment pledges secured in Marcos' APEC participation

The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or "habagat" will bring rains to much of the Philippines, according to PAGASA’s weather bulletin issued early Saturday.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region due to the LPA’s trough. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will affect Mimaropa, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of the Visayas with similar weather conditions.

PAGASA also noted that the trough of a tropical storm will bring scattered rains to Batanes, Cagayan, and Ilocos Norte.

Moderate to heavy rains in these areas may lead to flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms or the southwest monsoon.

Moderate winds and coastal waters are expected in the western section of Luzon, while the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
