Habagat, Storm Trough to Bring Rainfall Across Country

Over $672-M investment pledges secured in Marcos' APEC participation

The trough of a tropical storm outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (formerly “Bising”) and the southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring rain over several areas in Luzon, the state weather bureau reported Saturday.

As of 3 a.m., Tropical Storm Bising (international name: Danas) was located 480 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes. It is moving slowly westward with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts reaching up to 90 kph.

According to the 4 a.m. advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the storm’s trough will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

Meanwhile, the habagat will continue to bring similar weather conditions to Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the rest of the Cagayan Valley.

The rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail in Northern Luzon, while the rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal conditions.
